LOCAL TV - NOT JUST FOR THUGS
I've seen more GANG GRAFFITI on local cable (City) TV in 30 minutes than I've seen on my route in a whole year (although I must admit, it's getting worse - perhaps thugs are aiming to get their graffiti glorified on the tube). Why this "free advertising" is allowed is beyond me.... A TV host and a "model" on local (Community) cable TV directed viewers to a website with naked pictures, a "call back" form, an over 18 button, and Journal (you have to log into a Message Board that contains the word "porno" to read it). Ah, local TV - these are our neighbors!
Twisted Philanthropy: ROBBING PAUL TO PAY PETER
I've already put a warning out on the net for the local SLUMLORDS to clean it up; what we fail to see behind the Philanthropy Curtain is see how some of these property owners manage their real restate. In the very same square mile where neighborhood children are schooled, local gang activity is fueled... that is, "allowed" by the landlord whose name you may recognize as a "giver" in society. (Maybe the giving is "guilt money"?). Perhaps we should list these slumowners in the paper and issue penalties that include pall bearing? Long Beach has grown more physically attractive recently with new construction and reconstruction, Property Owners, why not clean your locations from the "inside, out."
BRING IN THE NEW YEAR RIGHT
Three "must haves" from LONG BEACH to give your Truly Beloveds: #1 Jennifer CORDAY's "Kick Ash" Album. This is the Number One Album for the SMOKER OR TOKER IN YOUR LIFE. (Are cigarettes the gateway drug?) Recently on ThePrimeSpot Radio Show on CSULB's KBEACH.org, Jen explained she lost a friend to cancer, and the vibes you get from her music (including aerobicizable dance mixes!) just may motivate someone who has QUITTING SMOKING on their New Year's Resolution list...#2 2004 CALENDARS BY LOCAL ARTISTS ROBERT SENSKE or ANNA WOOTEN. "Painted Scenes of Long Beach", a different piece of artwork each month... #3 "IT'S NEVER TOO LATE" FOR A WILL. My dear friend lost her brother (a DAD) in a sporting accident and although his wishes can be agreed upon by the entire family in an instant, the court process is taking years. If there is ONE thing to do this year, it is WRITE A WILL.
THE PRIME SPOT OPEN MIC
THE PRIME SPOT Open Mic, held weekly for the whole year of 2003 has come to an end. The last OPEN MIC will be the day this paper come sout, MONDAY, December 29th at KOOS, on Broadway just east of Linden 6-8:30pm.
