DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER
I almost threw the book across the room when CLARK ANTHONY first handed it to me because of the title, but yet my curiosity got the best of me (I knew the man through his music, so what did he have to say in print?) Read through the LONG BEACH Art Exhibit Column inside the VIEW News to find out how you can read a Chapter online for Free, just in time for VALENTINE's Day...
THE DAY BEFORE VALENTINE's DAY: Friday the 13th
Many of my personal friends know that my "love Life" has been on the shelf for the past 3 years (and I'm skipping motherhood, waiting until I'm 50 to hook up with a grandfather to nuture my maternal side). But that won't stop me from SPOTlighting couples on TPSradio on Friday the 13th. (Check it out on www.kbeach.org between 9-11pm. Then I Highly Recommend THINKINGALOUDMUSIC.com who will be playing at DIPIAZZAS.com). Also, the day the VIEW comes out, Feb 9th, there is a great show at DIPIAZZAS.com hosted by CHASE FRANK for those who "love to hate love"!
VALENTINE'S DAY
A perfect date (even if you just take yourself) on February 14th would be dinner at UTOPIA or FRENCHY's BISTRO and then the KEIKO MATSUI show at the LONG BEACH CONVENTION CENTER. Of course there are plenty of other places to go, check out the advertising in the VIEW!
REPRESENT 1999: TURN OF THE CENTURY URBAN MUSIC
Those of you who went to WILSON, POLY, JORDAN, and the other High Schools that took part in a Rap Compilation CD, please contact me at 562-804-5625. This CS is part of THE PRIME SPOT Private Art & Music collection and I want to see what you're up to now!
CYBER REAL ESTATE
Some people's vices include eBay, cancer sticks (smoking), gambling.... I happen to have gone on a wild binge of buying domain websites for under $10 (with FREE forwarding!) For example, if you visit 90840.com (the zip code for CSULB), you will wind up at KBEACH.org, student owned and operated internet radio; Visit 90800.com (inspired by the PEACE90800 bumper stickers that circulated shortly after POLICE OFFICER DARYLE BLACK lost his life in the line of duty - see the photograph of the funeral procession inside RC's at 10th/Redondo); then there is the east coast zip code in the city where my father sells Real Estate (Happy Bday Dad, let's DO something with your domain!), my HS zip code as I am organizing our reunion again from 3,000 mile away, and of course my favorite: www.mylifemywebsite.com... Who owns the LB zip codes? Most of them belong to a guy by the name of STEVEN CHAN from Costa Mesa who seems to know as much about LONG BEACH as the Menlo Park media company who scooped up 90802.com!
WHAT'S IN A WEBSITE?
A website is your ultimate calling card. If you don't have one, but want one, let me know - I can also hook you up with some awesome web designers! But it's NOT just having a site, hoping people will visit it on their own, you have to TELL people about your site. Create Hype! (Note: If you have a long, drawn-out homepage URL, at least buy a short, catchy domain name and have it forwarded there! Call me for more info at 562-804-5625).
PCA HOLDS SILENT AUCTION FOR LOCAL TV
The CITY OF LONG BEACH, along with CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS and The FOR YOU NETWORK present the 20th Anniversary LONG BEACH COMMUNITY TELEVISION at the L.B. AWARDS March 6th held at Long Beach City College's Nordic Lounge. The Emcee will be no other than DR. GARY SCOTT, Dean of Applied Arts (Music, Theatre, Radio, TV). The Public Corporation of the Arts is holding the SILENT AUCTION, so it should be a great event. (Contact: Sunny Nash). Local TV Producers who have submitted their shows for judging have a chance to win an LB Award. Who will that be? Catch the LBCT Special on Friday Nights, T-LILLY introduces fellow VOLUNTEER TV PRODUCERS. See your neighbors on local TV. Visit LongBeachCommunity.tv for the inside look at Cable Access, and watch Charter Channels 65/69/95 for programming. See your neighbors on TV!
LONG BEACHIN' WITH MO & MARIE JO
Show content for LONGBEACHINWITHMO.com and STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES (with MARIE JO) on LBCTelevision gets posted on ThePrimeSpot.com I work the camera for MO's show but unfortunately she did not let me nominate it for an award. Phooey! Check it out anyway, AND... stay tuned for news about MARIE JO and our Public Libraries. MARIE JO is also the "French Correspondent" for TPS eNews!
JACKI SKEELS
Special Thanks to Ms. JACKI SKEELS who has been emailing job postings in the Entertainment Industry to TPS. Jacki also has an awesome taste in music, she introduced me to AL WELLS among other very accomplished musicians. It's only a matter of time before someone scoops up JACKI for her talents, I hope she still has time for us!
HALF TIME
Nope, I'm not referring to JANET JACKSON's call for attention here, I'm writing about my second part-time job. I LOVE it! I wore my (second job) uniform on TPSradio two Fridays ago for those who wanted to try and guess where I work. (To give the rest of you a hint, I am surrounded by successful people who like to look and feel good. And 99% of them are Music Lovers!) My job is in the audio field (GOT SATELLITE RADIO?) and I will tell you more as I become better acquainted with the products and services. The important thing to me is working with cool people, such as the Special Delivery Unit at the Post Office. And I've done so much volunteering over the past few years, it's nice to do something you love AND get paid for it!
LB Weekly inside the VIEW Newspaper is also e-syndicated online at www.longbeachonline.net . Just look for "KaRi's Korner."
