HELP FOR SEXUAL PREDATORS
In my endeavor to spread the news about STOPITNOW.com (1-888-PREVENT), I had the opportunity to talk to a Sexual Offender who actually started a site to help himself and others: SATASORT.org , the Sexual Abuse Treatment Alliance ... My reason for writing about this severe problem that permeates our society is not only because it is Sexual Abuse Awareness Month but because I was molested as both a child AND accosted as an adult. (I consider myself VERY lucky, and feel for those who have not been). The people listed on the MEGAN's LAWsite (meganslaw.ca.gov) need help if they are to STOP THE CYCLE of abuse, and YOU can help them by sharing this newspaper with them. (Please note, it's against the law to harrass those listed). Many writers mention resources for those abused (such as Long Beach's wonderful organization SACA - Sexual Assault Crisis Agency that "mans" the LB Rape Hotline and provides eduation and defense classes) but most of those resources are used after the violence has occurred. Why not try and PREVENT THE ABUSE in the first place? We have many hurt people in the world, including many of the abusers - it's time to heal and provide a healthier environment for our girls AND boys, ladies and gentlemen... YES, sad but it's true - MANY men are sexually abused as well, they just don't talk about it as freely.
