    MY INQUIRY TO MEGAN'S LAW
(April = Sexual Assault Awareness Month)

It's been about 3 weeks since my inquiry, but the answers came. In response to my question "if an offender offense includes a minor (-14), is he/she allowed to live near a school?", read Section 3003(g) PC: ...."Notwithstanding any other law, an inmate who is released on parole for any violation of Section 288 or 288.5 shall not be placed or reside, for the duration of his or her period of parole, within one-quarter mile of any public or private school including any or all kindergarten and grades 1 to 8 inclusive." ... Members of the public can contact CDC's ID Warrants Unit in Sacramento to determine if a sex registrant is currently on parole. Their telephone number is 916-445-6713. You may also obtain the "parole region" and name of the Parole Officer." .....The answer to my second question about these same offenders being alone with a child", came this: .... "Sex offender registrants whose sex crime was against a victim under age 16 are prohibited by law from working, as an employee or volunteer, with minors, if the registrant would be working with minors directly and in an unaccompanied setting on more than incidental or occasional basis or would have supervisory or disciplinary power over the child. If the registrant's crime was not against a victim under age 16, the registrant must notify the employer or volunteer organization of his status as a registrant. Failure to comply with this law is a misdemeanor offense. (Penal Code §§ 290.95.). THERE YOU GO, YOU ASKED ME, AND I ASKED THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE!

BUY LOTTO TIX? BET ON YOUR BACKYARD!

Where has all of the money gone? Teacher friends of mine remember the time when they received books and materials with yellow stickers boasting they were paid for with CaL State Lottery money. WHY has that stopped? Instead of cutting budgets, why not TRACE WHERE THE LOTTERY MONEY is going? Implement that "wherever the winning tickets are sold, that community would directly benefit" ie. "Bet on your own Backyard!" Perhaps each School District can hire a (well paid!) LOTTO ADMINISTRATOR, who can document where and how the winnings are applied to our schools. ISN'T THAT WHY WE MADE THE LOTTERY LEGAL in the fist place?! ... While we're at it, why not LOCALIZE TAX ADMINISTRATION. Imagine being able to DESIGNATE WHERE YOUR CHECK TO UNCLE SAM BE APPLIED when you write out your checks every APRIL 15th?... I would make out a check directly to my local police department for salaries, maybe even hire more school psychologists to TEACH ANGER MANAGEMENT, which should be required cirriculum for our kids... (But wait, maybe the LOTTO MONEY can pay for that!). You know the saying "THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY"? (I first heard that expression from a CSULB professor named SAUCEDO shortly after 9/11). Yes, maybe we should do that!

    CLUB562.com SPOTlights the BLUE CAFE

It's been about a year since THE BLUE CAFE (dot com) has been UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT.... STEVEN & ANDREW NGUYEN have recently hired National Talent Buyer DALE WOODSON to schedule SATURDAY NIGHTS... Keep your eye out to see if your favorite band is on tour! THE PRIME SPOT is pleased to announce the offer of presale discount tickets to PONCHO SANCHEZ with Long Beach Local JOE WOOD opening, for $12 on May 28th. (You can TRY obtaining $15 tix the night of the show, but I doubt there will be any seats left, I've never seen PONCHO SANCHEZ for under $25!). Leave me your info at 562-804-5625. STEVEN ADLER (adlersappetite.com) from GUNS N' ROSES and the LAURIE MORVAN BAND (lauriemorvan.com) play Saturday May 7th...

    THE PRIME SPOT RADIO SHOW

We had ALOT of feedback that listeners couldn't connect last Friday to hear the TAKE FIVE interview with A MILE OF MEN organizer GREGORY SANDERS, or hear our coHost SAMUEL LIPPKE (dot Com), the 19 year old local who helped with last year's TSUNAMI recovery efforts, or CHER and LISA MARIE from The BIG Girls Show and ClubBounce.net ... That's because we had too many listeners! Hopefully INDIE 103.1 was successful because I recently applied to that station as a DJ; LONG BEACH has the Hottest Music Scene around, and my hope is to SPOTlight music from the 562 on more than just internet College Radio via CSULB and CERRITOS College. Why not contact Indie 103.1 and leave a message that you want to hear KaRi and Mo on FM?... You will hear DAVID CHETKIN & bands scheduled at SADDLEBACK COLLEGE's Earth Day Celebration on April 22nd along with G MURRAY THOMAS and the CSULB's SLAM TEAM and cuts from HELMUT STEIN. On the last Friday in April (the 29th), RONNY NORTH (dot Com) will be stopping by and CHRIS HANLIN will also play for us before he heads to his gig at THE BLUE CAFE...

    PLAY SARAH GREEN (dot com!)

On Friday Night, April 22nd, SARAH GREEN will be our Special Guest on TPSradio.org (The show is webcasted LIVE on CSULB's kbeach.org 9-11pm Fridays... Get DA INSIDE SCOOP on SARAH GREEN by logging onto http://www.playsarahgreen.com/ You can also hear her on BEERCASTING.com, click LONG BEACH. (She is at Table #1, and IGUANA KELLEY's BRIAN ZINDA discusses responsible drinking with ANTHONY PANZICA from SCOOTERPATROL.ORG (the outfit that drives partiers home WITH THEIR VEHICLES from seaside bars). As of now, two more beercasts are scheduled, one at SARAH GREEN's CD Release party at DiPIAZZA's Sat April 23rd, and BEERCASTING.com returns to IGUANA KELLEY's on Sunday April 24th. See the site to RSVP!

    OTHER UPCOMING GIGS

A GUY NAMED JOE and LELDON will be at the BLUE CAFE with CAPITOL EYE this Friday, April 22nd ... AMPLE PARKING plays along with other bands during CSULB's 24 hour RELAY FOR LIFE event (See CANCER.ORG);I learned from the local POST OFFICE on Redondo Ave that created a fundraising page specifically for RITA, that even if you don't donate funds, you can donate blood or take part in the candlelighting...... ERICH MUNZNER and MATT KUSTER's monthly gigs at the LIQUID LOUNGE are still going strong.... Long Beach Newbie ALI APPOLO enjoys the WEDNESDAY OPEN MICS at PORTFOLIO's presented by the handsome and talented JOSIAH...ZOEY'S TRIP returns to DiPiazza's on APRIL 30th... All of these bands and more (see CLUB562.com) can be requested on THE PRIME SPOT Radio Show!

BON VOYAGE to the VIEW's own BRIAN SNELSON

You are probably an avid reader of BRIAN's SNELSON's Kilroy cartoon in the VIEW Newspaper. Well Brian recently set sail around the world, and he's taking his readers along with him on his voyage. His employer, OLYMPUS sent him off with a nice camera and a "See you next year!" and THE PRIME SPOT (dot Com) will be sharing his experiences with subscribers... we're encouraging him to post his experiences on the web, including a PODCAST, we'll see!
