THE PRIME SPOT CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS
THEPRIMESPOT.com just celebrated FIVE YEARS at the ODD JAM 2004 held at RECREATION PARK. This was a private event and organizers DAVID CHETKIN and SCOTT HEUSTIS from "GIZMO The Band" gave each band a VHS and DVD copy of their performances. JEANNA KRATER was the only singer/songwriter, the rest of the bands (Request them on TPSradio!) were Experimental Instrumental: DAMAGE CONTROL, DURA MATER, BAG THEORY, SIMPLE FUNCTION, The SHERPAS, and of course GIZMO. INSTAGON hosted (and played!) and G MURRAYTHOMAS provided Spoken Word. I said a few things, especially THANKS to IGUANAKELLEYS.com and the VIEW FROM THE HILL! Check out LUCY NGUYEN's photo shoot on UNAVISION.net, can't wait for the next ODD JAM!
LOCAL POET G.MURRAY THOMAS...
On the 1st Friday of every month at 10 pm G. MURRAY THOMAS will be interviewing local poets on The Prime Spot Radio at kbeach.org. He also hosts an open poetry reading on the 1st Tuesday of the month, 7 pm, at the Marina Pacifica Barnes & Noble (6326 E. PCH, Long Beach, 562-431-2253). TPSradio on KBEACH.org
Forthcoming guests include HEADCHANGE.com (local portal to cool bands, also check them out on MYSPACE.com before logging onto the Friday, October 22nd show!), BARRYCROMPTON.com (CD Release Party in Nov, he is scheduled 11/12!), ANGIE EVANS (she'll share music from the Open Mics she held monthly at the QUE SERA), and DOC ANELLO (.com) will be on our Holiday Show in December (attention Jazz and Swing Lovers!).
MY SUPERVISOR IS A WITCH
(Just Kidding). My boss, JANIE AVERY RIVAS will be the Special Guest on TPSradio's HALLOWEEN Show, Friday October 29th. If YOU have a Fear Of The Unknown, tune in to learn about WICCA. (My own knowledge is less than that of an 8 year old obsessed with HARRY POTTER). And, if you watch over the LIVE WEBAM at KBEACH.org, you'll catch a few costumes! We will also feature the music of JOHNNYJONES.com (and the SUFFERING HALOS) and will take requests for local and scary tunes.
BACHELOR BID
If YOU attended the LONG BEACH AREA JAYCEES (lbjaycees.org), we want to hear from you. Especially if you went out on a successful date! (Call 562-804-5625). TPSradio will air audio segments from the event, and we'll direct you to photos taken by PATRICK JAMES. Special Thanks to TAMARA GREET of the LB JAYCEES for taking TPSradio on an audio tour of this Fundraising Event at COHIBA's....
LONG BEACHIN' WITH MO
For about 2 years now I've been shooting the camera for MO POWER's TV Show which is aired over Charter cable TV Channels 65, 69 and 95. The day this paper comes out, you can learn about EAR CONING. ("What?!" you say!) MO still features live music as well - we just taped A GUY NAMED JOE, local singer/songwriter who is performing at the BLUE CAFE October 18th. Request his reggae "Happy Birthday" song, the Star Spangled Banner, or one of his many folky rock tunes on TPSradio. ("TPSrecords" recorded his demo a while back, oh, how I love my SONY MD Recorder and Stereo Microphone!).
MO's show featuring JOE (last name=ALLEN) and OPIUM FOR THE PEOPLE (who "powered" up the normally acoustic TV station set) will air on Monday, October 25th on Charter 4:30pm (65/69/95).
There is too much else to write at this point, I have to log off now and hit the streets as a PACK MULE for the USPS. (Please, don't ask me for a match when I have a 40 lb. bag on my back!). So I'm not going to tell you who to vote for (I know you are tossing up MICHAEL MOORE and BEVERLY O'NEILL for write-in candidates) but I WILL tell you that I sure was surprised to see an old website I frequented being forwarded to a politician's homepage: Check out WORLDPEACE.com. While online, check out MY site, www.THEPRIMESPOT.com (It's not a business, It's a Pleasure!") and also read LB WEEKLY by KaRi inside the VIEW From the Hill Newspaper and on your favorite local website!
