Wallspace photographer wins top awards at Exposure 2006 in Long Beach March 13, 2006 - Long Beach, California – Doug Hawks, a black & white fine art photographer represented by Wallspace (www.wallspacecorp.com), took top honors in two categories at Exposure 2006 this past Saturday. The 8th annual competition presented by Hellada Gallery, Epson, Freestyle Photographic Supplies and Los Angeles Photographers awarded Mr. Hawks 1st place in the juried No Boundaries competition for his image entitled “Off Season” and 1st place in Best of Show (Traditional Black & White) for the photograph “Abandoned Dock.” Doug Hawks is best known for his Long Beach urban landscape work that is the subject of a new book just released by Wallspace titled “Black & White Long Beach,” however both winning photographs were taken outside of Southern California; Miami, Florida’s South Beach and Cozumel, Mexico, respectively. Mr. Hawks’ winning entries, as well as all other category winners and all of the No Boundaries finalists, will be on display at CalNational Bank, 555 E. Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, CA through the end of this month. Doug’s winning images are attached to this email. Exposure 2006 is an annual, month-long event whose goal is to showcase and promote the photographic arts.
Wallspace is an on-line gallery and bookstore specializing in fine art, cityscape and wilderness landscape photography. The company’s objective is to promote the practitioners of a more traditional visual style of photography which is updated through the use of modern equipment and contemporary sensibilities. Doug Hawks is a ten year resident of Long Beach and a former professional photographer who specialized in architectural photographs.
