BREAST & OVARIAN CANCER SURVIVORS TAKE TO THE CATWALK TO RAISE FUNDS

Marketplace Long Beach Hosts 4th Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser For Team Spirit – May 19th

WHAT: Breast and ovarian cancer survivors will take to the runway alongside professional models for the 2007
“Catwalk for a Cure” fashion show and garden party on Saturday, May 19, 2007 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30
p.m. at the Marketplace Long Beach. The runway show will benefit Team Spirit, which supports breast
and ovarian cancer programs at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Set to take place in its Central
Courtyard stage, this is the fourth year that the Marketplace is hosting this event, which is always
supported by its many merchants.
The fundraising event will once again be produced by Lucinda Miedema, Fashion Director for Los
Angeles-based Couture Productions, which specializes in upscale fashion events for designers, retailers,
fashion market centers and charitable organizations. Marketplace merchants providing fashions for the
show include Bungalow Bay, Chaussure, Hiatt & Peek Style, Neil’s Apparel, Tiffany Collections, Prep
and Meggie Lou.
The afternoon’s emcee will be Karen Knighton, a retired model who has sprinkled the Los Angeles area
with her words and wit as the Managing Editor of 944 Magazine, which recently sponsored Mercedes-
Benz Fashion Week in LA. With her experience in the worlds of modeling and fashion, Knighton
serves as a role model to the cancer survivors by lending her time and support to raise funds for breast
and ovarian cancer research and education.
ADDL INFO: Tickets can be purchased for $55, a portion of which is tax-deductible, by phone at (562) 431-6282, online
at www.marketplacelongbeach.com or by visiting Chaussure, Bungalow Bay, Golden Spoon,
Kakkis Medical Group, Prep and The Mail Box. The event will feature lunch catered by Moon Dance
Catering and opportunity drawings throughout the afternoon. Seating is limited.
Team Spirit is a small group of Long Beach residents, dedicated to raising money for providing support of and
promoting awareness in the treatment, research and emotional well-being of breast and ovarian cancer patients in its
community. In the past 7 years Team Spirit has been successful in raising more than $300,000 for Long Beach
Memorial Center Foundation. Long Beach Memorial Medical Center is one of the top hospitals in the nation and 100%
of all Team Spirit donations fund support groups, treatment and research at Memorial Medical Center. For more
