A telephone survey of 500 high probability voters was conducted on behalf of the Design Center project last August. Key findings included:

- 71 percent support the project because it creates jobs to improve the Long Beach economy
- 78 percent support the project because it cleans up blight
- Overall, 65 percent of those polled citywide support the project
An economic impact report was prepared last October by CSULB Professors Lisa M. Grobar and Joseph P. Magaddino. Its key points concluded:
- Estimated sales, during its first year of operation, are $50 million at the Design Center. These sales generate taxable revenues of $4.1 million, of which $500,000 accrues to the general fund of the City of Long Beach.
- During the first year of operation, the full fiscal impact of this retail development (including the restaurant and other retail stores) is in excess of $650,000.
- The total employment impact to the region, excluding the construction impact, is 389 new jobs. These jobs involve a payroll of $12.9 million and generate output valued at $42.5 million.
