Il Pruno
Giuseppe Adamo credited his survival of World War I to Saint Francis -- as described on the "Biography" page, the Saint's medalion prevented a bullet from killing Giuseppe. As a result of that experience Giuseppe Adamo donated several acres of real estate in San Mango d'Aquino to the Catholic Church in the name of Saint Francis. Every year, on Saint Francis Day, a procession brings a large statue of Saint Francis to the land. Today a modest but quaint chapel has been erected on the property and is open for the public to visit and pray. The area where the land is located is known as "Il Pruno."
