Friends
The song Friends was written in 1982 -- long before the hit television show of the nineties. "Friends" prophetic lyric describes the "friends phenomena" of TV and the socio-cultural trend of today's modern extended family.
This exuberant 1983 version performed by MAX WEST (the band) was recorded during a late night studio session in Emmylou Harris' mobile recording studio, parked behind her main facility in North Hollywood. The band was on a tiny budget. It was their fortuitous association with "sound-magician" Gene Shively (an engineer from Dalton Recorders in Santa Monica, California, where they recorded their "Rich & Famous" EP45), that made the session happen at the Emmylou Harris studio. It was a great little recording studio -- the sound room was tiny yet amazing! The acoustics were tight -- as is evidenced in the recording -- just click the icon below to hear the MP3! |
