Alfred J. (Fred) Gigliotti, Jr. ,1953, of Peoria, Illinois, -USA-. I moved to Peoria four years ago
from Boonton, New Jersey with my wife Karen, and children, Christina and Michael. I am
employed as a State Filings Analyst with RLI Insurance Company.
Before she died, my Aunt Stella gave me a family tree that she prepared back in 1971.
It dates back to 1850 and originates in the city of Marcellinara, province of
Catanzaro, Calabria region. I doubt that it includes the entire Gigliotti clan, but begins with three
brothers: Luigi, Giuseppi and Lorenzo, and one sister, Francesca. My tree
shows the branches of each of their following generations.
My Great Grandfather was Giuseppi. Three of Giuseppi's sons (Luigi, Antonio and
Francesco) came to America in the 1890's or early 1900's and settled in Boonton. My
Grandfather was Francesco and he was a barber. My great Uncle Tony was a shoemaker (I don't
know the occupation of Luigi).
My father, Alfredo, was born in Boonton in 1918 and became a mason. He died in 1969.
More to come.

My great great grandmother Maria Francesca Gigliotti married Rosario Scavo
in the late 1860s in Cerrisi (Decollatura), CZ. She arrived at the port of New York
15 Oct 1897 along with several daughters. They moved to Carbondale, PA, to
meet my gggfather Rosario and other family already living there. A few
years later they moved to Castlegate, UT, and eventually settled
permanently in Helper Town, UT--both mining towns like Carbondale and
populated by many Decollaturesi. Apparently, a relative (cousin or nephew)
of my gggmother also settled in Helper Town, but he never had any children.
Rosario and Maria had a son (Francesco Scavo) who was very good friends
with Felice Gigliotti, the ggfather of Sara D. Gigliotti also listed here

My grandfather was from Nicastro (CZ). In Bagni di Lucca we are the only Gigliotti family. my grandfather came here because of his job, he is forester guard. My grandfather's father was a hair-dresser in Nicastro. This is all that I know. My uncle once did some heraldry research on the Gigliotti name and found that the origin of "Gigliotti" is from Toscana. It was a renowned old family of Lucca and Pisa. He also told me that there were famous people like lawyers and men of letters, someone in the army and in the church (Domenico di lapo 1378 Priore di Pisa) named Gigliotti. I was born in New York, USA. When my mother was was a child she and her family moved to the States. She attended school there. When she was 23 she came to Italy on vacation and met my father. After they got married, they lived in New York but when I was five they decided to come back to Italy where my father had all of his family. I have a brother (25) who works with computers.

sposo' Felice De Fazio.
Questi figli di Graziella Marasco e Saverio Gigliotti erano percio' miei
biscugini ed ebbero altri figli e figlie. Ne conosco alcuni nomi
(Basilio, Maria Grazia, Severino, Saverio, Ornella, Francesco, Emilia, e

Pina, sposo' Michele Gigliotti..........)
attrazione !!!

Katia Gigliotti, Pavone Canavese (Turin), -Italia-
My e-mail address is: k.gigliotti@cantine.org
I was born in Ivrea (TO) in 1972, I am an Electrical Engineer and I work as a
Design Engineer for Alenia Aeronautica S.p.A.
I have an older sister, Beatrice, 1971, graduated in Law, who lives in Turin.
Our parents are Antonio Gigliotti (born in 1944) and Domenica Bonacci (1946);
they both are from Adami di Decollatura (Catanzaro). My father Antonio
immigrated to Banchette, nearby Ivrea (TO) in 1961, and worked for "Olivetti
Computers" for 32 years, now he is pensioned; my mother moved to Banchette in
1969, right after their wedding (1969) and worked in Pavone Canavese (TO),
where they still live now, as a school teacher for more than 30 years.
My great grandfather Angelo (also called "Angelo de' Gatani" as he was the son
of Gaetano Gigliotti and Raffaella Muraca) was married with Teresa Anania
(probably the daughter of Giuseppe Anania and Fortunata Gigliotti); he had
three brothers. All of them where born in Adami di Decollatura (CZ): Rosario,
who didn't marry, Francesco (1857-1950) and Luigi. Luigi, together with Teresa
Anania's brother, Carmine, immigrated to Nebraska (U.S.A.) in the first years
of 1900 and settled, probably, in Omaha.
Angelo and Teresa had six children, two sons and four daughters:
- Gaetano (1900-?), married to Maria Antonia Bonacci (1900-199?), (they had 4
children: Angelino, who is married but he has no children, Teresa, Franco and
Tommasina - all of them still live in Adami, except Franco who lives in Turin
with his wife Lina Berardi and their two sons, Gaetano (1971) and Andrea
(1973));
- Rosario (1909-1974), my grandfather, who married Assunta Arcuri (1912-2002);
- Caterina, who died in the early 50's;
- Felicia ("Filiciuzza") who moved to Omaha (U.S.A.). Probably she married a
Perri, but I don't know exactly;
- Antonietta ("'Ntonuzza") who moved to Omaha together with her sister;
- Franceschina, who married Giovanni Casaretto.
My grandparents, Rosario and Assunta, had three sons: Angelo (1938), Antonio (my
father) and Pierino (1949).
Angelo immigrated to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, in 1963, and Pierino went
there in 1970. Angelo married his cousin Ersilia Elia and they have three
children: Ross (Rosario) (1966) and two twins Michael and John (1977). Pierino
married Maria Elia from whom he had two children: Susanna (1975) and Paul
(1980). Now my uncles still live in Niagara Falls.
I would like to have some more information about my relatives who immigrated in
Omaha (Nebraska) around 1870 as well as all the information you could have
about my family, in particular about my great grandmother Teresa Anania’s
family.

Guy Filippelli`, England -Great Britain-
I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, moved to Detroit when I was about 11 years old, and now I'm living in England and going to
school at Oxford University. I graduated from West Point in 1997, which makes me a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army. My relatives came from Decollatura, CZ. My GGGGG-grandmother was Maria Gigliotti (b.1794)! That's tracing it
quite a ways back! However, three are quite a few Gigliotti's in my line going back after that (about 4 of my GGGGG-grandparents). My GGG-grandparents, Antonio Scalzo and Raffaela Perri, left Decollatura in 1881 (Raffaela actually came over in 1887). Their daughter, Teresa Scalzo, married my GG-grandfather, Antonio Bonacci, who left Decollatura in 1898.
My family all lived in Cleveland, OH after a brief stint in Pittsburgh, PA. Other names in my family (non-Gigliotti's :) include Barbuto (Catanzaro, CZ), Lia/Falbo (Sersale, CZ), and Filippelli/DeLuca (Cosenza, CS).
My email is Guy.Filippelli@bnc.ox.ac.uk.

I am married to
Michael Vondras and have two children, Amanda, 8 and Michael Joseph, 6.
My father, Joseph Gigliotti was born in Gagliano(Catanzaro) in 1906 (birth certificate shows Giuseppe Pucci as his name?). He came to
this country around 1919 with his sister Concetta. His mother (Marianna Paonessa) was married to a much older man whose
last name was Pucci. She then had my father and aunt
with John Gigliotti. They weren't married. John Gigliotti came to this
country and went to work in Witherbee, NY. He worked there with my mother's
father Tommaso Critelli who is from Gimigliano. I don't know how we got
from Witherbee to Newburgh, but John "called" Marianna from Italy. The
two children were left behind and came over around 1919. My father
married Marietta Scalzo in Newburgh and had 4 children. His wife passed
away in 1958 and in 1960 he went back to Gimigliano to remarry. He was familiar with the Critelli family because his
father knew my mother's father Tommaso. He met my mom , Maria Rosa
Critelli, and married her in September 1960. I was born in Newburgh in
1963. My father passed away in 1976. He worked in construction. My
grandfather Gigliotti is buried in Newburgh and my Grandmother Gigliotti
is buried in Brooklyn, where my Aunt Concetta resides.

My grandfather Colombo, came here around 1918 with three
sisters and a brother Joseph. We too have our roots in Calabria, I
believe the Province was Cosenza and the town was Ruscello.
My grandfather was a true craftsman and founded an extremely successful
home-building company in Philadelphia in the 1930's. My father Chris
took over the business in 1958 naming it Gigliotti Corporation. During
the past 40 years we have developed nearly 10,000 homes in three states.
My great uncle Joe, is the father of Anthony Gigliotti, the famous
clarinetist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. For whatever reason
Gigliotti's seem to excess in both business and the creative arts.
My grandfathers sister, Mary moved to Tarzana, California in the 30's
and married Henry Bucceri. One of their children is now a retired judge.
My great grandfather was Fortunato Gigliotti a clothes taylor. My
grandfather said he used to make suits for an old actor George Raft. I
do not have any records beyond my great grandfather but would be
appreciative of any help you can provide.

My grandfather arrived in this country in 1891 or 92, perhaps with relatives other
than his parents. I was in Soveria Mannelli last month, and did see some "Gigliotti" in
the cemetery there. I'm assuming that the names "Gigliotti" and "Gigliotta" refer to the
same family/families.
