Wednesday December 03, 2008 New Gigliotti families are added to the Registry weekly!
 My daughters: Mariafrancesca & Daniela under the GIGLIOTTI (town) sign (1996). Here is an interesting sign that we stumbled upon awhile back (quite by accident), when we were driving to the Sila (mountain resort area) in Calabria. There is a community named "GIGLIOTTI" -- it is part of town named Colosimi, which is in the Cosenza Province. Though located in the Cosenza Province, it is linked directly to Catanzaro by a very local train route through the mountains of Calabria -- not part of the main railway that runs through Italy. It has a very large Gigliotti population -- probably extremely distant relations. Keep in mind, this fact: although the Gigliotti surname is more common in Italy than in the USA, it is not as common as Smith or Jones in the USA. |
