Beach Volunteers Needed on 7/20 to Cleanup Firework Debris Left by 4th of July Revelers
(30-Minute Beach Cleanup to Pick Up What Patriotic Public Left Behind)
Thousands of expended bottle rockets and firecrackers have littered the beach sand since July 4 and it's time to put the trash in its place -- the trash can. Organizers of the 30-Minute Beach Cleanup are encouraging volunteers to join their effort this Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m. The 30-Minute Beach Cleanup will take place at the bikepath at the end of Granada Ave. in Belmont Shore. Participants in this monthly grassroots effort seek to create a clean and safe place for residents, visitors and aquatic wildlife along the Long Beach coast.
On the third Saturday of every month, the 30-Minute Beach Cleanup volunteers progress toward the Belmont Pier and the Peninsula. Bags and gloves are provided as part of the Long Beach Adopt-A-Beach program. Volunteers are asked to wear shoes and sunscreen. The Cleanup ends at 10:30 a.m. and is always followed by refreshments, donated monthly by Duthie Power Services. Parking passes are free to volunteers and available at the meeting point.
Organizers are seeking individuals, businesses and organizations to get involved with the Cleanup as sponsors. Financial support is needed for advertising, marketing and maintenance of the Web site, www.BeachCleanup.org .
