RC GROCERY is owned by RAJ, RANGA and DINUSHA WEEKRAKKODY, three siblings originally from Sri Lanka. When you walk into the place on Redondo @ 10th, you'll notice the smiling faces, the VIEW newspaper, and part of THE PRIME SPOT Private Art Collection on the wall. But what will make you return, (besides the gourmet panini sandwiches!)is the excellent customer service. Even employees KAT and CARLTON urge customers to "tell us what you want us to carry, we're open to suggestion." RC GROCERY offers a FREE KRISPY KREME with a coffee purchase until further notice, and this Thursday, ALEX D. MIZE will present a vegetarian dish during ALONZO XZAVIER's Open Mic, 6pm. (Bring your instrument, voice, announcements and anything else you'd like to share!) The backroom is also a great place for meetings, just talk to RAJ!

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

It's been about three months since I moved into what I call "The Barracks", a craftsman style house I had delivered mail to, which is also home to 7 men ages 29-57 (no dwarfs here, only one roommate is under 6 ft tall). I can't beat the rent which includes phone, cable and internet but waking up next to a hairy creature in the mornings was never expected. Hachoo! "Purr the Cat" obviously doesn't realize I'm allergic to her. Or maybe she does?... THANKSGIVING was interesting (smoldering carcasses vs. cruelty-free vegetarian Tofurkey in the kitchen) however I must confess the best thing about GUY rooomates is the minimal time they spend in the bathroom!

WHAT I LEARNED FROM SCHOOL

Through my affiliations with CSULB, I learned the following: COMEDY UNDERGROUND will take place at COUSIN JACKS on Fridays, downtown Long Beach on Pine Ave. (Thanks for the post, LISA JABLONSKY (kbeach.org's HONESTLISA.com).... CSULB's The NUGGET has scheduled PLANETARY NEBULA, PROMINENT SONS, and BREDRIN DADDYS (Highly Recommended by ThePrimeSpot!)to take the stage Thurs 12/4. Check out BROKEN BOY, UNDERMINDED, and ATAXIA 12/11 (If YOU are in a band and would like to play the NUGGET, conact kbeach.org's JEREMY DALTON)... On Friday 12/12, CORDAY is scheduled on TPSradio and SOULTITANIUM.com will be upstairs in the NUGGET... Don't forget to wear your protection during "SEX AT THE BEACH", a talk radio show at CSULB's kbeach.org hosted by the UNION's MICHELLE & ALISON Tuesday Nights 9-11... The ART DEPT at CSULB is having a huge student & faculty ART SALE 12/7-12/11 and UNIVERSITY ART MUSEUM's BOB KNOX ehibit just receied a First Place Award from the INT'L ASSO of ART CRITICS!

WHAT I LEARNED FROM THE STREETS

JACKI SKEELS informed me that AL WELLS (Families United Performing Arts) will be performing on weekends just outside Pine Ave's STARBUCKS during the month of December...A disgruntled MAMA'S BOYS fan told me they are no longer at the Blue Cafe on Sundays (is it true they are closing Mondays?!)..TONY BROWN and JOE WOOD both have Art Receptions that are almost upon us (Check out the Art Exhibit Listing in the VIEW!).... TOM WALKER will be a the play at KOOS, not just for kids...DESJON DELUXE not only has his own TV Show (Long Beach Community Television can be seen on Charter TV Ch 65/69/95), he has started an OPEN MIC at SHADES OF AFRIKA on Wednesdays!

FENDER BENDER MENDER

I didn't hit a person, just an empty parked car. Still, the 91 Camry had some damage and I left the dreaded note: "Call me about your bumper." GREAT NEWS FROM THE PRIME SPOT!

"KaRi has left GALLERY ELEVEN/SEVEN"...However, THE PRIME SPOT Open Mic will still take place in the East Village at various locations: First Mondays: MARGARITA GRILLE (Atlantic/First), Second Mondays: PASSPORT COFFEE (Broadway @ Linden), Third Mondays: CLASSIC CUP CAFE (First @ Linden-Elm); and Fourth: TO BE ANNOUNCED .... THEPRIMESPOT RADIO SHOW has moved from Saturday mornings to FRIDAY NIGHTS 9-11pm and every FIRST FRIDAY will feature talent from the Open Mics.
