FROM THE MEAN STREETS OF
LONG BEACH
NHK Enterprises America recently announced that their producers, directors and staff members from 41 different programs voted "CAMBODIAN RAPPER", which features PRACH LY "from the mean streets" of Long Beach), as the Best Work 2004! Hopefully we'll be reuniting PRACH with his fans worldwide via PRACH's upcoming appearance CSULB's Live Webcam at KBEACH.org on TPSradio . (That is, when he stays in LB long enough to pin down!) Check out http://www.mujestic.com/ for updates and, while there, read http://www.wpmd.org/ DJ STEVE PROPES' article written for the Long Beachcomber!
THE FIRST HIGH SCHOOL REUNION "REALITY" SHOW
As far as I know, ThePrimeSpot Radio Show was the first to broadcast a "HS Reunion Reality Show" this past Friday. Six former NEW JERSEYans from http://www.07728.com/ were reunited with eachother AND former classmates calling into the TPSradio show from the East Coast. We heard from our "Class Flirt" who discussed her reputation and the writing on the wall in the bathroom stalls, and there were a few confessions of schoolboy crushes and various pranks that took place years ago. We commented on how accepting our classmates were of other cultures, and http://www.juancarlosquintero.com/ from Columbia (known as "John" growing up until he moved to CaLi) was a PRIME example of this. If you were listening you were fortunate to hear Juan play Latin Jazz on the TPS guitar, just for us and the wwWorld! Obviously word about the "online reunion" did not reach Lethal Weapon writer SHANE BLACK in time to chime in with his old grade schoolmates, but maybe next time! Hopefully ELAINE LYSANDROU ZOFREA from the LBC can make the next gathering as well. (Some of you may know ELAINE from DISNEYLAND or the PTA, but I know her from "MyHometown", FREEHOLD (Township not the Boro, which is http://www.brucespringsteen.net 's/ Hometown).
SPEAKING OF HIGH SCHOOL REUNIONS...
If you haven't checked out http://www.wilsonhighreunion.com/, well "Tis the Reunion Season!" http://www.MySpace.com/REBECCALYNN recently sent out a post about her own Wilson HS reunion, but with the aforementioned Reunion Website created by HERB HALLING, there is no need to look further to reunite with fellow former WILSONites! In addition to reunions, HALLING.com has links to http://burgees.com/ HAM RADIO and http://www.oxygenpartybar.com/ Mr. Halling is so multi-faceted, TPSradio has invited him to share his passions on air! Stay tuned into what's coming up on TPS, check out http://www.theprimespot.com/ , a site all about LONG BEACH and surrounding 562 area of SoCaLifornia!
TATTOO YOU?
MO POWER (my coHost at TPSradio) and I were invited mid-May to "man" the phone desk and chatroom at the http://www.hepcaware.org/ Telethon Fundraiser where we met KINDRA RUOCCO, the maker of the film, http://www.silenceisdeadly.com/ If you ever received a tattoo with shared (NOT new) ink, you should request a test for Hepatitus C. If you've ever shared a razor or toothbrush, get tested! To learn more about the disease and how BANDS & MUSICIANS GET EXPOSURE for/to their music via spreading the word and resources, check out http://www.hepCcoalition.com/ If any Healthcare professionals want to schedule a HEP C AWARE concert in the 562, contact me or KellysLot@aol.com.
TEACHER, TEACHER!
SILENCEISDEADLY.com will air on LBCTelevision via Charter on channels 65/69/95 Friday, June 3rd from 2-3pm. Special thanks to JUDY BAKER, DOUG WOOD and ROCKY KITCHEN for making this happen! In addition to learning about Living With Hepatitus C, you'll enjoy the music from http://www.kellyslot.com/ who plays at the http://www.liquidloungelongbeach.com/ on a monthly basis... TEACHERS in Long Beach and Signal Hill are welcome to record the show onto VHS to share with their classes while encouraging the libraries to purchase the DVD (available at SilenceisDeadly.com) so RUOCCO can be reimbursed for the time, money and effort spent on this important project!
MARVELOUS MONDAYS on TPSradio!
Believe it or not, I trekked up to LA a few weeks ago to an Art Opening featuring the Artwork of various painters including former Long Beacher GLORIA HOLDREDGE (Remember BEARE ROMANCE ART GALLERY that used to be across from WILSON HS?). While up there, I asked one of the artists to take a group picture of friends at the reception, quite a few of whom were from the 562. After talking about ART & the LBC. the painter who took the photograph mentioned SECOND CITY COUNCIL ART GALLERY and the March's WOMEN's FESTIVAL. Turns out that I took a picture of HIM and his family at that event in LONG BEACH and we didn't recognize each other! Small world, huh? I leave Long Beach only to enjoy it elsewhere! Anyway, the painter/phoographer turned out to be former tagger MOVEONE. He will be joined by his artist wife IDENTITY and children on TPSradio @ WPMD.org June 6th at 9am. The topics? The transition from TAGGER to ARTIST, what inspires this creative family, favorite music, and how the kids like having TWO Artistic Parents. Of course, we'll touch on my favorite question, "Is Art Inherent?"! .... During the second hour of TPSradio you will hear live music from Cerritos College's JON GARCIA who writes for the TALON Newspaper and announces local gigs posted on MYSPACE.com (Check out http://www.MySpace.com/club562 !)
FABULOUS FRIDAYS ON TPSradio!
Friday June 3rd, author, poet, and cable TV producer DARICK SIMPSON will guest appear on THE PRIME SPOT Radio Show. He will read from his book and we'll play from his CD and discuss a variety of tpoics including writing, love, fatherhood... and his thoughts about local TV! On Friday, June 10th, DAVE SORBO from http://www.lbc-radio.com/ will open the show and ERIC from http://www.la.yourmusicscene.com/ will close it, both playing the BEST OF LONG BEACH MUSIC!

THE PRIME SPOT SPONSORSHIPS
Thanks to http://www.iguanakelleys.com/ for sponsoring ThePrimeSpot cell phone! However ... I would love to allocate "Iggy's" donation to print expenses and invite a CELL PHONE COMPANY (or Sales Rep) to provide a phone to TPS. (That only makes sense, right?) I am also looking for an AUTO DEALERSHIP (new or used) to provide a replacement for ThePrimeSpotmobile. Since moving across town, and driving for more than 10 minutes at a time, I prefer a car with airconditioning, CD player, and good gas mileage. The gas cap switch and driver seat door lock should be in working order. I can sell my current car to cover the insurance for a year + and would even be happy to drive a COW. ("Car of the Week"! ). TPS also seeks CO-Op advertisers, you scratch my back and I'll tickle yours! For instance, perhaps you'd like to chip in for a group ad in the forthcoming revamped VIEW NEWSMAG? Or maybe you'd like your URL on my car window? Those with a Talent, Product or Service I do (or can) "Highly Recommend", please leave your info including website URL at 562-804-5625 (I've had recent sponsorhip inquiries from a Satellite Radio Dealer and a .FM radio station but they are both outside of the 562!) LOCAL SUPPORT BEGINS AT HOME ... call me!
KaRi is a part-time Express Mail Carrier (Express Mail EVERYday in LB and Signal Hill), and she plays local music on http://www.tpsradio.org/ based out of CSULB's kbeach.org Fridays 9-11pm and on 9-11am Monday's at http://www.wpmd.org/ , Cerritos College Radio. You can usually catch her at a Live Show at http://www.thebluecafe.com/ Saturday Nights.
