    SPIT AND ARGUE

I've owned SpitandArgue.com (and SpitnArgue.com) way before a local newspaper named a section of their newspaper this. I learned of the "historical debate by the sea" when I took (and led) the historical/ architectural "Walking Tours" offered by LONG BEACH HERITAGE. Until this past week, I had the domain forwarded (for free I might add!) to the "This Land" yahoogroups website run by a group of concerned (and "vocal") citizens that I think of as "political watchdogs"......

If you log onto SpitandArgue.com NOW, it will be forwarded to a recent audio podcast recorded outside LB's City Hall on June 7th. The topic? LNG, the Liquified Natural Gas terminal currently in discussion. The Council meeting 6/7 was overflowing with those voicing their opinions about the subject, including the VIEW's own BRY MYOWN so I took it upon myself to ask other LONG BEACH RESIDENTS waiting outside about their thoughts. (To sum it up, those "for" it had short answers like "it will bring jobs to the city." The longer responses of those "against" LNG shared views on safety, terrorism, and alternative energy). Go on and take a listen - you just might hear YOUR NEIGHBOR! Feel free to share YOUR OPINION on this subject by send an email to: theprimespot@yahoogroups.com which will become part of www.theprimespot.com, a site (written) for and by the passionate people of Long Beach and the 562!

    MO SAYS, "ASK DR. LANDAU"

MO POWER, cohost of TPSradio.org (on both campuses) has introduced local Psychiatrict DR. MICHAEL LANDAU to Cerritos College Radio (WPMD.org) and the wwworld! Check out this internet radio show Tuesday afternoons and call in with those questions you've always wanted to ask someone with the credentials to answer them! The phone number is 562-860-2451 x2628 and you may call in anonymously.

    GO FLY A KITE!

The SEAL BEACH KITE CLUB posts to theprimespot.com on a regular basis. What better way to celebrate MOTHER & FATHER's Day (kite flying took place June 12th this year for Dad) than to Go Fly A Kite?! The club recently announced a Potluck Anniversary Celebration for Seal Beacher's JAY & JANIS SABIC married 25 years. (I'm sure I delivered their mail at least once when I was a reular carrier in 90740). What a neat thing to do! I am marking the SEAL BEACH KITE FESTIVAL on my calendar, it should be a great "photo op" in September!

    A GUY NAMED JOE

Joe now has a website, www.aguynamedjoe.com which is yet another domain name I acquired and have forwarded to a page (MySpace.com/agnj) which highlights this young man's musical talent. The music you hear was recorded on my trusty SONY minidisk player and SONY stereo microphone recorded a few years back. (Can you tell I LOVE Sony?!) At a recent crowded gig at TheBlueCafe.com (are you on their mailing list yet?!) which also featured the bands MULCH, THINKING ALOUD, and BUCHANAN, I videotaped his song "Please Release Me" which is about kicking his drug habit.... Coming soon to podcastpages.com!

    A GUY NAMED ED

Everytime I mention to fellow USPS employees that I work for the EXPRESS MAIL Unit in Long Beach), they ask, "Is ED HAMM still there?" Well I have an announcement to make: My manager ED HAMM IS RETIRING! As contributor to the LB's "Beach Buzz" Newsletter (specific to 90809) and he to SIGNAL HILL ) I asked him if I can write up a story on his retirement. (I've always wanted to take pics of him surfing with my long zoom lens too!). But I guess Ed is a shy guy because he declined. So I'll say it right here: "CONGRATULATIONS on your departure from the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE, and may you enjoy your grandkids and surfing more than you've enjoyed "bossing" us around!" 30+ years is too long of a time to just slide out of these place quietly!

A GUY NAMED JIM: JAMES MEJIA AND HIS NEW INVENTION

Local environmental activists may have already heard about this but I received a casual email this morning from ThePrimespot.com subscriber, JIM MEJIA about his new invention which was recently SPOTlighted on PBS by HUELL HOWSER! www. EPC-EOL. com Jimmy states, "Considering the toxins in electronic junk we buy and discard. It's time to realize environmental damage when you throw your Lead (Pb) bearing Ewaste in the trash." I plan on doing a TAKE FIVE for TPSradio at Cerritos College Radio's WPMD.org with Mejia.(Please note that TPSradio at CSULB's kbeach.org is "Hit or Miss" during Summer 2005 but in the fall the shows will be archived/podcasted!)

    THE PRIME SPOT PITboss!

Just wanted to introduce JEFF VON DUNGEN to those who maybe haven't heard his podcasts or seen his website, JvonD.com TPSradio and ThePrimeSpot.com thanks Jeff for the technical assistance! For instance, he took a music video I made of 35mm still pictures of LONG BEACH ART (mostly murals because they are so big and so permanent!) and uploaded them to PODCASTPAGES.com (along with some TPSradio archives!). Check out LELDONROCKS.com to see the "musical art video" (MAV?!) for yourself and please forward it to any artists whose work you recognize as we would love to give them credit! (I forwarded the page to the PCA now known as LB's "Art Council" and have gotten absolutely no feedback, no response). The video/pics were taken in 1999 before the downtown area was revitalized. The underlying message was "Why build brand new when we can repair or replace the old?" Perhaps you saw the 3 1/2 minute LELDONROCKS.com video on the business channel on Charter Communications (for which I spent $500 to air before learning LB residents can have their own cable access TV show for free!)? Anyway thanks to JvonD.com for sharing his talent AND for encouraging me to attend the recent OC PODCASTERS MEETUP last week!

    TOUR DES ARTISTES

This past weekend was a success, mostly due to SE REED and SHEA GAUER of "OPEN" in the East Village Arts District! The event spotlighted so many emerging artists this year and the music was great. I was so impressed, not only with the turnout and beautiful program, but the amount of VOLUNTEERS these two DOers attracted!

ETUDES AT RECREATION PARK JUNE 25th

Funny story about DAVID CHETKIN, a Wilson HS alumnus and excellent drummer: Back when THE PRIME SPOT Soundstage was located in the eVillage, he performed during an Artwalk (or was it "Tour" or "Long Beach Live"?) and I didn't recognize him until I received a "Thank You" email a few days later. He actually looks exactly the same as he did when he worked for PLESSEY PERIPHERAL SYSTEMS in Irvine when I was the Human Resources Manager but seeing the name DAVE CHETKIN on the email was what jogged my memory! We've been in touch ever since, and I am pleased to announce he has organized another event at RECREATION PARK this year called ETUDES. You can enjoy the live music FOR FREE and music lovin' MEETUP.com organizers are welcome to use it as a gathering place. Check out FROG DOG, FADING ELYSIUM, RAGDOLL PUPPETS, and THE SOCK PUPPETS on MySpace.com to learn more about the bands. I don't think there will be actual puppets there but I might do what I did last year and laminate menus from area restaurants who agreed to deliver to RECREATION MAIN STAGE between 11-6pm. Come one, Come ALL AGES!
